D.I.Y. Air Drying Clay Love Letter – 9th Wedding Anniversary Gift Idea

I can’t believe it, today I have been married to my gorgeous husband for 9 years! It goes so very quickly, and we have actually been together for a total of 15 years. We got married young by todays standards, but we were lucky enough to have met young too and getting married was one of the best decisions we have made.

So this anniversary gift is ceramics, clay, porcelain, pottery, any of the above. I’m not quite sure how interested my husband would be in me making him a pot or a vase… but a small clay token is cute and very romantic, of course!

Ball of air drying clay

Heart stamp, this amazing one is from DoCrafts available here

Flat surface or chopping board

Parchment paper

Rolling pin

Sharp knife

Sharpie pen

Lay the parchment paper over your surface or chopping board, to protect and to enable the clay to peel away easily.

Pull away enough clay for your heart ( or other shape you may use) and work the clay with your hands for a little while to soften it.

Roll out the clay so it is about 6mm thick. Turn at least once to ensure there are no creases on the back of the clay.

Press stamp into the clay and cut around outside with a sharp knife. Smooth any uneven sides with your fingers.

Using the straw end, make a hole at the top of the heart to hang.

Leave your heart to dry in the sun or a warm place until hard. This can take 3-4 hours, but best to leave overnight. Be careful not to move around too much, to avoid cracks.

Once fully dry, use a sharpie pen to write your message on the back.

Happy anniversary you romantics!
